From 18 to 26 September, Donostia-San Sebastián will once again become one of the world’s great film capitals with the 74th edition of Zinemaldia. For nine days, the city will host premieres, galas, encounters and screenings for all kinds of audiences.
The San Sebastián International Film Festival does not take place in a single venue. Its programme is spread across emblematic locations such as the Kursaal and the Victoria Eugenia Theatre, as well as the Principal Theatre, Príncipe Cinemas, Trueba Cinemas and Tabakalera. This variety of venues brings cinema to different parts of Donostia and allows the festival atmosphere to be felt throughout much of the city.

Films and stars at Zinemaldia 2026
This year’s festival will welcome a significant number of international actors and filmmakers. The names announced include Brad Pitt, Penélope Cruz, Ricardo Darín, Marion Cotillard, Orlando Bloom, Jeremy Irons and Rami Malek, among others.
Naomi Watts and filmmaker Werner Herzog will also receive the Donostia Award in recognition of their respective careers. During the festival, it is not unusual to come across actors, directors and other film professionals walking around Donostia, making the city itself an important part of the Zinemaldia experience.
When can tickets be purchased?
General ticket sales will begin on Sunday, 13 September at 9:00 am and will be released in stages. Some films, galas and special screenings may be in high demand, so it is advisable to check the programme in advance and purchase tickets early.
