From 8 to 15 August<\/strong>, San Sebasti\u00e1n celebrates another edition of its Semana Grande. For eight days, the city is filled with concerts, sporting activities, family events and a lively atmosphere in the streets, as well as one of its main attractions: the International Fireworks Competition<\/a><\/span> over La Concha Bay. The official programme<\/a><\/span> includes 416 activities across 30 venues<\/strong> throughout the city.<\/p>\n

For visitors arriving in Donostia by train or bus, the beginning or end of their journey does not always coincide with their accommodation\u2019s check-in or check-out times. There may also be many hours left to enjoy the festivities after checking out. Walking around the city centre, watching the fireworks or attending a concert with suitcases and backpacks can be uncomfortable, especially during such a busy week.<\/p>\n

Aste Nagusi Pirata: another way to experience Semana Grande<\/h3>\n

The Pirate Semana Grande<\/strong>, or Aste Nagusi Pirata<\/strong>, returns with its own programme of events from 8 to 15 August. Its schedule combines communal meals, street parades, activities, concerts and participatory events at different locations around the city.<\/p>\n

Some of its most characteristic events include the traditional Abordaje and its communal meal, the climb to Urgull, popular games, kalejiras, the bertso-poteo and numerous concerts. The programme<\/a><\/span> also features activities at venues such as Flamenka, Lasta, Kaia, Trinitate Plaza and Bernart Etxepare Plaza, as well as events with feminist themes and activities aimed at different audiences.<\/p>\n
